Scottish rockers Idlewild formed in Edinburgh in late 1995, originally comprising singer Roddy Woomble, guitarist Rod Jones, bassist Phil Scanlon, and drummer Colin Newton. To date, Idlewild have released six full-length studio albums, with their latest, 'Post Electric Blues', self-released to fans in June 2009.
Idlewild celebrated the decade as one of the elder statesmen of Scottish rock music. The band formed in December 1995, In Edinburgh, Scotland. Idlewild's natural songwriting ability began to shine turning the group into critical darlings. Initially, the band's sound obeyed the conventions of 1990s British indie rock guitar music, however, unlike many of their contemporaries, it developed over time from an edgy and angular sound to a sweeping, melodic rock sound. With a few nods to REM as well as Britain's folk tradition, the group released a series of acclaimed albums. Now at home on their own label, Idlewild's self-released their new album 'Post Electric Blues' in June 2009.
